You might be thinking, why anyone would be afraid of succeeding. Isn’t that what every business owner wants?
Well, Yes and No!
Consciously we do want to succeed, but subconsciously we could be afraid of succeeding.
An important function of our subconscious mind is to keep us safe. So if our subconscious mind’s programming is that it’s not safe for us to succeed, then it will sabotage even our best efforts to grow our business.
If you find yourself procrastinating and sabotaging your efforts to grow your business, then there is probably a hidden subconscious reason. And often, it’s the fear to succeed.
The challenge is, studies show that our subconscious mind runs about 85% of what we think, say, and do. So even when we try and use our will power to change, our subconscious mind will soon override our will power, until we get the subconscious mind aligned with the changes we want.
So how do you know if you have the fear to succeed? Just knowing this is the first step to clearing it.
Here are some questions that can help you know.
Did you ever hear in your past or have though that…
- Rich people are arrogant and corrupt
- Rich people hurt people to get to the top
- Your family or friends won’t like you, or accept you, if you are way more successful than they are.
- You will have to work really hard and give up having “a life” to be successful.
- You can’t be spiritual and successful.
- People will want a lot from you if you have a lot of money.
For an example one of my clients felt stuck, and I asked her these questions, and she remembered that when she was growing up, her parents constantly fought over money, and had often said that “rich people are corrupt and can’t be trusted”. She realized that even though she didn’t know it, her subconscious mind was trying to keep her from not being judged in that way, and avoiding conflicts. We were able to clear that programming she had as a child, and soon she was able to take action and start getting more clients and making more money.
I will get into how I helped her and what you can do to get unstuck in a minute, but I want to share with you what I discovered about myself, and why I am so passionate about this topic.
It had a lot to do with being married to the famous author Neale Donald Walsch. I had helped him get the first book of Conversations with God published and co-founded and helped run two successful businesses with him.
Later after experiencing a huge amount of success with Neale, things started to fall apart in our marriage. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do to walk away from all of that. But fortunately several years after I was divorced I was able to marry the love of my life. Life was good, but I wanted to reach out more with my coaching business , however I found I was completely stuck,
….until I had an AHA moment!
I became aware that my subconscious mind was not willing to get successful since it thought that success would ruin this happy marriage. Even though consciously I know that the two guys and the situations are very different, my subconscious mind didn’t think so, and was sabotaging my success.
Fortunately, there are several great tools to get your subconscious mind aligned with what you want. I feel is one of the most powerful and easiest tools to do that. It’s called Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) also known as Tapping
Since I feel EFT is such a valuable and empowering tool (and easy to use) I have included a videoa short video with me demonstrating how to use EFT to help you get your subconscious mind aligned with you wanting to succeed.
